Why Venting?
Prevention of differences in pressure or temperature as well as water condensation
A sudden decrease in temperature can cause negative pressure inside the protective nousing of a technical device. As a result, water and dirt can potentially penetrate the seals and damage the electronics. VAYU®TEC pressure balance elements featuring patented IQ TEX® technology offer a highly enhanced air flow. At the same time, the innovative waterproof design protects against dirt and foreign objects.

IQ TEX® is the first and only ventilation element worldwide to be permeable to air and to become absolutely watertight as needed. The heart of IQ TEX® is a specially developed fleece which has special superabsorbent substances between the fibres. These are capable of explosively increasing their volume by a factor of up to 600 as soon as they come into contact with water. The initial stateis quickly regained when it dries
As long as IQ TEX® stays dry, a continuous exchange of air is taking place. If IQ TEX® gets wet the air permeable gaps between the fibres are closed as the superabsorber expands. In this state IQ TEX® is watertight, even under high pressure. The absorber contracts while drying and breathability is regained
after approximately 20 minutes. Breathability of the material is similar to that of a cotton T-shirt. This cycle is indefinitely repeatable without aging the material.
IQ TEX® turns conventional textiles into intelligent high-tech companions: permeable to air, breathable or watertight as needed. Whether for shoes or clothing, headgear or for pressure equalisation in electronic components. For the ventilation of control cabinets, windows, doors, lamps and much more – the possible applications of IQ TEX® are practically unlimited.
